Fall Vaccines

Yes, it is that time of the year — time for your fall vaccine regimen.
Vaccines available to help protect against common colds, the flu and COVID include the RSV vaccine, Influenza vaccine (or flu vaccine) and the COVID vaccine.

Here is a quick summary of the availability of these vaccines:

RSV Vaccine
Currently available at local pharmacies.
Not available in our office.

The CDC recommends the Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) vaccine for adults 75 and older, and for adults 60–74 who are at increased risk of severe RSV. Increased risk factors include:

  • Chronic heart or lung disease
  • Weakened immune system
  • Other medical conditions, such as severe obesity or diabetes
  • Living in a nursing home or other long-term care facility

The CDC recommends getting the vaccine in late summer or early fall, just before RSV usually starts spreading in the community. The vaccine is not an annual vaccine, so older adults don’t need to get a dose every RSV season.

Influenza vaccine

Currently available at certain local pharmacies.
When we receive our order, we will notify our patients via email. At that time, please call our office and schedule your shot.
This is an annual vaccine, so older adults should get one every fall.

COVID vaccine

The FDA just approved the new formula and is debating when exactly to allow the release of the vaccines. The expectation is that they will be available within the next several weeks.
When the new COVID vaccines are available, we will send you an email for notification — you can then receive this vaccine at your local pharmacy.

We will not have this vaccine available in our office.
